What You Need To Know…
It is really important to have the highest standard available as we will only fit an oil tank meeting UK safety regulations. There are 3 different types of tank, over the ground, partially buried and underground. We are able to provide you with the specialist advice you need for choosing the correct tank, planning, installing and maintaining.
Why Should I Get an Oil Tank?
Oil heating is typically one of the most cost-efficient ways of heating your home. The price of oil per litre has dropped in recent years, and oil is generally a very good way to heat your home.
If you already have a bunded oil tank and you need us to install it for you, give us a call to arrange your installation.
Access To Your Tank
During the initial planning consultation you must take into consideration the access required to the tank, not just for installation and maintenance but also for refueling, how will the delivery driver be able easily and safely reach the tank?
1) You must have room for all-round visual inspection
2) Minimise the number of obstacles the delivery driver may encounter in order to fill the tank
3) Where the oil tanker can park
4) Before work is agreed we will consult with you the safest and most practical options.
Correct Installation
Before the installation can commence the base for the tank has to be correct.
UK Building regulations insist oil tanks be installed on a stable level that extends a minimum of 30cm past the widest point of the tank in all directions. This is a fire prevention distance to help stop the spreading of fire from other objects such as plants, or buildings to the tank.
There are 2 options for the base either a 100mm thick slab of concrete or closely butted paving slabs of minimum 50 mm thick. In both instances, the base must be constructed on a solid foundation in accordance with the conditions of the ground.
When an oil tank is required to be elevated above the ground, we always follow UK building regulations along with the manufacturer’s guidelines for safe and proper installation. Plastic oil tanks must be supported across their entire base.
